- 1.1This Privacy Policy describes how Legal Dictum collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when you use legaldictum.in.
- 1.2By using the platform, you consent to the data practices described in this policy. If you do not consent, you must not use the platform.
- 1.3This policy is governed by the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 of India.
- 1.4This policy should be read alongside our Terms and Conditions, which govern your use of the platform.

Who We Are
- 2.1Legal Dictum is an online legal education platform based in India, operating at legaldictum.in.

Section 03
Data We Collect
- 3.1We collect only the data necessary to provide our services. We do not collect data we do not need.

We do not store payment card details, bank account numbers or CVVs. Payment processing is handled by third-party payment service providers. We receive only a transaction confirmation.
- 3.2Voluntarily provided contact details: If you provide additional contact information (such as a phone number or alternate email) through the Dashboard, Contact page or any other platform feature, this data is stored and may be used for communications related to your account and for targeted offers. You may request removal of such data at any time through the Contact page.
Section 04
How We Use Your Data
- 4.1Providing the service: Name, email and subscription status are used to authenticate you and determine your content access rights.
- 4.2Credit and access management: Credit usage records and content access history are used to calculate available credits and manage repeat access.
- 4.3Test history: Attempt records, scores and answers are stored to display history and summaries in the dashboard.
- 4.4Personalisation: Interest preferences are used to display relevant portals and send targeted offers such as discount codes.
- 4.5Communications: Your email may be used for essential account notifications (login, subscription reminders, payment confirmations) and, once our email service is active, optional marketing communications. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time.
- 4.6Legal compliance: We may use or disclose your data to comply with applicable Indian law, court orders or lawful requests from government authorities.
- 4.7We do not use your personal data for any purpose beyond what is described in this policy without your explicit consent.
Section 05
Anonymised and Aggregated Data
- 5.1Legal Dictum reserves the right to use anonymised, aggregated, non-personally identifiable data derived from user activity on the platform for any purpose, including but not limited to analytics, platform improvement, research and commercial purposes.
- 5.2Anonymised data cannot be used to identify any individual user. This right exists indefinitely and is not affected by account deletion or opt-out requests.
- 5.3Examples include: aggregate test performance statistics, most-accessed content categories, usage patterns by portal — none of which can identify you individually.
Section 06
Third Party Service Providers
- 6.1Legal Dictum uses third-party service providers for authentication, data storage, payment processing, typography and other platform functions. These providers may change at any time. Legal Dictum is not obligated to notify users of changes to service providers.
- 6.2As part of normal platform operations, certain data (such as name, email, transaction details and usage information) is transmitted to these providers as necessary for the service to function.
- 6.3Legal Dictum is not liable for any failure, data breach, data loss, data misuse or any other act or omission of any third-party service provider. Users interact with third-party services at their own risk.
- 6.4Data transmitted to third-party providers is subject to their respective privacy policies. Legal Dictum may access data stored on third-party platforms as part of normal operations but is not responsible for how such providers store, process or protect that data independently.
- 6.5Legal Dictum may offer various authentication methods including but not limited to email/password and third-party OAuth or OTP-based login. Authentication methods may be added, changed or removed at any time.
- 6.6We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with any third party for marketing or commercial purposes.
- 6.7We may disclose your data if required by applicable Indian law, court order, regulatory authority or lawful government request.
- 6.8Users are encouraged to independently review the privacy policies of any third-party services they interact with through the platform.
Section 07
Data Storage and Security
- 7.1Your data is stored on Supabase servers. Supabase implements industry-standard security practices including encryption at rest and in transit.
- 7.2Access to the database is restricted through row-level security policies ensuring users can only access their own data.
- 7.3All data transmission is encrypted via HTTPS.
- 7.4While Legal Dictum takes reasonable steps to protect your data, no system is completely secure. Legal Dictum shall not be liable for any unauthorised access to, disclosure of, alteration of or destruction of data that occurs despite the implementation of reasonable security measures.
- 7.5In the event of a data breach that is likely to cause harm to users, Legal Dictum will notify affected users and relevant authorities as soon as reasonably practicable in accordance with obligations under the Information Technology Act 2000 and applicable Indian law.
Section 08
Cookies and Local Storage
- 8.1Legal Dictum uses browser-based storage technologies including localStorage and sessionStorage to maintain your login session and platform preferences.
- 8.2localStorage is used to store your Supabase authentication session (so you remain logged in between visits) and certain user preferences.
- 8.3sessionStorage is used to store temporary session-level flags such as onboarding status and dialogue display state. This data is automatically cleared when you close the browser tab.
- 8.4These storage technologies are essential for the platform to function. They do not contain sensitive personal information and are not used for advertising or tracking.
- 8.5You may clear localStorage and sessionStorage through your browser settings at any time. Doing so will log you out of the platform.
- 8.6Legal Dictum may also use standard browser cookies for session management. By using the platform, you consent to the use of these storage technologies.
Section 09
Data Retention Periods
- 9.1Account data (name, email): Retained until account deletion is requested and processed.
- 9.2Content access records: 10 days (Aspirant); plan duration + grace period (Scholar/Champion). See Terms and Conditions Section 10 for full details.
- 9.3Test attempt records: 3 months from attempt date (Aspirant); rolling 6 months while active, or 6 months from expiry date (Scholar/Champion). See Terms and Conditions Section 10 for full details.
- 9.4Credit usage records: Retained as needed for credit calculation and dispute resolution purposes.
- 9.5Interest preferences: Retained indefinitely until updated or account is deleted.
- 9.6Payment transaction records: Retained as required by applicable financial, tax and accounting laws in India.
- 9.7Legal Dictum reserves the right to retain anonymised or aggregated data derived from any of the above indefinitely (see Section 5).
Section 10
Your Rights
- 10.1Access: You may request a summary of the personal data we hold about you. Legal Dictum reserves the right to verify your identity before complying with any data access request.
- 10.2Correction: You may update your name and interest preferences directly from the Dashboard. For other corrections, contact us through the Grievance process.
- 10.3Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and all associated personal data through the Delete Account option on our Contact page at legaldictum.in/contact.html. Requests are processed manually and may take up to 15 days. Deletion is permanent and irreversible — all credits, bonus credits, membership, content access records and test history will be permanently and irrecoverably lost. No refund will be issued. Legal Dictum bears no liability for any such loss.
- 10.4Portability: You may request a copy of your personal data in a readable format. Legal Dictum will provide what is reasonably practicable.
- 10.5Opt-out of marketing: You may opt out of marketing communications at any time (see Section 12). This does not affect essential account communications.
- 10.6Legal Dictum reserves the right to decline data requests that are manifestly unfounded, excessive, repetitive or technically impracticable.

Section 11
Minors
- 11.1Legal Dictum is intended exclusively for users who are 18 years of age or older.
- 11.2We do not knowingly collect personal data from persons under 18. By registering, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old.
- 11.3If we become aware that a user under 18 has registered, we will terminate that account and delete associated data without prior notice or refund.
- 11.4If you believe a minor has registered, please notify us immediately through the Contact page.
Section 12
Communications
- 12.1We may send essential account communications including login confirmations, subscription reminders, payment confirmations and important platform updates. These are necessary for the service and cannot be opted out of.
- 12.2Once our email service is active, we plan to send optional marketing communications including offers, discount codes and new content alerts. You will be notified before such communications begin.
- 12.3You may opt out of marketing communications at any time by contacting us through the Contact page or by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
- 12.4If you have provided a phone number, we may use it for WhatsApp communications. You may opt out by contacting us.
- 12.5Opting out of marketing communications does not affect essential account communications.
Section 13
Changes to This Policy
- 13.1Legal Dictum reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date.
- 13.2For significant changes that materially affect your rights, we will endeavour to notify registered users via email. However, it is your responsibility to review this policy periodically.
- 13.3Continued use of the platform after any change is posted constitutes your unconditional acceptance of and agreement to be bound by the updated policy. This applies equally to updates to our Terms and Conditions and Disclaimer. It is the responsibility of the user to periodically review all three documents.
Section 14
Grievance Officer and Contact
- 14.1In accordance with the Information Technology Act 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021, Legal Dictum has designated a Grievance Officer to address privacy-related complaints.

- 14.4For data access or correction requests, use the Raise a Grievance option. For account deletion, use the Delete Account option on the Contact page. Identity verification may be required before processing any request.
- 14.5This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India. Any disputes relating to this policy shall follow the dispute resolution process in our Terms and Conditions — mandatory internal grievance, followed by mediation at the Patna High Court Mediation Centre or SAMA, followed by the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Patna, Bihar, India.
Summary: We collect only what we need. We use it only as described. We do not sell it. You can request deletion at any time. We hold anonymised aggregated data indefinitely for platform improvement.
